Hello SMF!

Dan Cooke from Merthyr Tydfil, Wales,  UK.  Still yet to smoke anything but my home made smoker is nearly finished. Just have to insulate and attached the door. Looking to get it up and running for the 14th, just in time for the England's first world cup game.

My smoker is 1.2 metres tall and 0.6 wide with a 1500w hob for smoke creation purposes. (ill post some pictures soon!)

My love of BBQ came from a summer spent in Texas on a summer camp and my travels after that summer and the two summers after.

Ive travelled all around the south and loved every minute!! shame its so hard to get a visa!!

Looking forward to picking everyone's brain  over the next couple of weeks.

First question, any prep i should do before smoking for the first time?

Thanks!!!

A guy sitting at a bar notices 2 ladies speaking in an interesting accent. After a bit, he strolls over and says, "Hello, are you 2 ladies from Scotland?"

One of the women, looking a bit perturbed replies "It's WALES ye eedjit!"

The man smiles apologetically and replies "I'm sorry, are you two WHALES from Scotland?"

Sorry, couldn't resist, it's one of my favorite jokes.

Welcome aboard and enjoy this site, there's a ton of great info and helpful folks!

Hello and Welcome to our addiction.  A word of warning: There is no 12 step program for this one!  Many good folk here with a load of experience that they are more than willing to share.  If you have specific questions just start a thread and someone with experience will be along soon to offer advice.  All info you can provide us with such as smoker type, location and so on will help us answer any questions you may have, and pictures help a bunch.  Spend some time doing some research on the forums, tons of advice and recipes already available there.  Check out Jeff’s 5 day smoking E-Course ( link below ) that will help you get started.  We look forward to your contributions.  Have fun.  Good luck.  Keep Smokin!
