I am in the process of building my file cabinet BBQ pit, it has 5 doors that will open separately.

I can tell that air will be able to get in around the doors. Is there some type of high temp. silicon gasket that I can use on the inside of the doors that's food safe, or is there anything else anyone would know about.

Do a search for RTV Gasket. It's a high temp silicone that should do the trick. It will handle the heat and is nontoxic, but the hard part is keeping it in place. IT will want to fall off.

You can find the stuff at pretty much any auto supply store. I think I even saw some at Wally-World.

Might want to see if you can use rivets instead of the glue.

My smoker has a riveted rope / cord. You can find these at fireplace stores or in the fireplace section of hardware stores.

While doing my search for the rivet and silicon. I ran across some.
High Temperature Aluminum Flue Tape Does anyone know if this is safe for sealing my bbq pit doors. It has silicon adhesive. It will go inside the pit.
