Headed out to the grocery store yesterday because they had spares on sale. Ended up bringing home some chicken, spares, a picnic shoulder, and some Italian sausage. Got up this morning and fired up the Egg. Royal Oak lump with cherry. Rubbed down the picnic with Simply Marvelous Cherry rub and into the cooker it went. Around noon I cut the ribs into a St. Louis cut and rubbed them with the Cherry too (our new favorite rub for pork) 2 hours later had a little snack. The Egg held steady at 230*. At 6:30 the ribs were done and the picnic was hanging out at 185*. I wrapped that bad boy up and threw it into the oven cause I needed the grill for the sausage and chicken. So - crappy picture, but I these were some of the best ribs in a long time.

Awesome Ribs Elly !!!!

Super Bark!!

My son just got a "Big Black Egg".

It looks just like the green one, except it is black.

Is there a big difference in the two that you know of?

He made some really good short ribs a few days ago with it.

Thanks Elly,

Bear

Thanks Bear. Sounds like he got himself a Primo I don't know a lot about them first hand but I have heard good things about them. Is it young or oval?

Where do ya find this.......Simply Marvelous Cherry rub   ? it sounds good

Thanks for the link Bear - I had heard of those but never saw one. I see the one guy who reviewd it wasn't happy - hope your son has better luck. I have heard mixed reviews about them but nothing first hand.

As for the Simply Marvelous Rubs... they are by a guy out in California that I "met" on another forum. All his rubs I have tried I like, but we can't get enough of the Cherry - in fact I just ordered another 5 pouns of it last week, and a pound for my cousin.

Steph is a really nice guy, and he puts out a fantastic product. If you happen to order from him - tell him LMAJ sent you his way. Neither of us will get anything for it, but I like to let folks know when I am supporting their cause.

I ordered some of the Pecan rub too - can't wait to try that.
