I tried Alton Browns jerky recipe and I really liked it but my son found it too spicy. Could I add more honey or brown sugar to help make it not so spicy.
This will only be my 2nd try making jerky. Thanks

Instead of adding more sweet, consider just cutting back on the hot and spicy. It's like customizing a rub receipe, It will also preserve better with out more sweetener. ( like there is ever any left to preserve :-) )

That is an easy fix...Reduce the Black Pepper by 25 to 50% and eliminate the Red Pepper Flakes completely (Ok, maybe just a Pinch for Dad). Instant kid friendly Jerky...JJ
