So I had no intention of smoking a brisket this weekend, but found a small flat at the local grocery store that weighs 4.59 lbs. Having never smoked one this small, I was wondering what any of your thoughts might be on how long it will take to get to about 190 internal at 220-225 ?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks...............

I was just about to ask the same question. We are a small family that doesn't eat much, even tho we freeze leftovers, I still like to cook smaller sizes. It gives me an excuse to smoke more.

I've only made one brisket and it was a small one. I don't remember how long it took, but I figured an hour and a half per pound, cook time.

5lb brisket running at those temps I would guess about 6 hours to come up to temp.
Could be 7 and could be 5 but I would guesstimate about a 6 hour cook time if I were doing a 5lb flat.
Remember that if you need it for a certain time it will require a resting period in a towel and cooler so it can rest in there for an hour or two if you need to hold it until dinner time.
