my first masterbulit 40 in.after a year caught fire after power was turned off. So I went out and bought another 40 in. and when I set the temp @ the desired heat of 220 I am cooking Boston Butts in 7 to 8 Hrs. Not the desired 12 hrs.

Contacted Master built and they said that they would replace my smoker, but all they had was 30 in. smokers that was 2 weeks ago, I live 96 miles from there Corporate office and still have not received The Replacement Smoker.

Now back to the NEW  SMOKER that I bought 2 weeks ago. I have had to call them because it is cooking 40 degrees to hot.  They sent me another control panel now the smoker is cooking at only 20 derees higher than the set temp.

This not my primary smoker, but now I don't feel that I can leave it unattended because of the temperature issue.

Oh before you think I am off my Rocker, 3 oven temp gauges at the same time in the smoker can't all be wrong.

If mine was consistently 20* over MES read-out temp, I'd be happy. That would mean I can finish chicken at 295* instead o 275*.

As long as it only stayed 20 or 30 degrees higher, I wouldn't worry about it.

If you're cooking butts too fast at the 220* setting, turn it down & go by the temp your Maverick says. I ignore my MES read-out, and go by my Maverick ET-732 all the time.
