great day for smoking and football here in Texas

I've had a 4# bone in butt on since 4 am. It has been sitting at 150 the past 2.5 hrs. I've read all about the stalls and I'm checking with my own temp prob. I am trying not to foil being my first butt and want to experience the BARK!!! I was just hoping to have for lunch, once it comes out of stall does it go pretty quick? I was wanting to rest it for an hour or two as well. In the mean time I'll just pop another top and enjoy the smell

Thanks for any info. GO TEXANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Before the jokes start I will rethink my post titles before I post...lol. Too late now let the games begin!!

2 things... You can Edit the title... are you checking meats IT in different places... you might have the probe stuck in some fat or hitting the bone ...

No, I have the mes 30 with their prob in. I checked the temp at 4 hrs. The mes was at 144 and my secondary prob was 142. I haven't checked again because I don't want to open the door so I'm going off of the mes prob at this point seeing it was only 2 degrees difference.

I took your advice and checked a different spot it the temp was 166...still seems low for the amount of time for 4# butt. Guess I'll just keep popping tops!!!

Ride it out. What temperature are you cooking at? I usually aim for 225* to 250*, but I've found mine at 300* on the end of a long cook with my butts done up to an hour faster than I expected. FYI, mine usually take about 12 hours.

That's almost a 6 month ride!
