Hey All,
Had a Brinkmann SnP, but it was destroyed last Aug in a fire. ITCHING to get smoking again. Wife won't let me spend more than $200 on a new one. Should I just stick to the current version of the SnP (Ibelieve Charbroil bought the design), or is there a better choice for that $$?
I've got a strait-up no-mod SNP. I start with probably a couple chim fulls of Charcoal and add another another approx every 1 and a half hrs. I tried lump one time and couldn't keep the heat up (it was fairly cold and windy outside) and switched to kingsford mid smoke ( I know the purists are...
So far on my Mothers Day Smoke, I have burned through 20lbs of charcoal in 8 hours. Am I screwing something up? Or is this expected using an SNP in 35 degree weather?
The beginning of the first smoke of the year. I'll post the rest of the pics when complete. I use the pans because I hate the thought of losing any juices and it helps immensely with cleanup. Since I haven't modded out my snp yet I have to do some shuffling anyway, so meat gets roated around...
What I actually meant was the charcoal grate and ash pan for the main chamber. I was wondering if putting that at the highest level (which actually brings the ash pan up above the top of the firebox opening) would act as a temporary makeshift tuning plate. I am not going to use the main...
I've read the mods for the snp. I don't have time before I smoke it up tomorrow to mess with getting a baffle and tuning plates in the thing. But.... would I get close to the same effect if I raised the cooking box charcoal grate and ash pan to the highest level? I see that there would still...
As i get ready to do the first smoke, I find my self talking to my smoker every time I walk by. Giving it a pep talk so it's all geared up for the big smoke tomorrow!
I see most folks here smoking directly on the grate. so far, I've always stuck my butts and briskets in a pan so I don't lose the juices. Am I doing it wrong? Is there a benefit to going directly on the grates?
I've been smoking for just under a year after finally getting my wife to let me start. Now she can't stand places like "Woody's"

My recommendation to newbies is don't start your first smoke with a 21 lb brisket.
