Just got my 18 1/2" WSM. Reading through the doc's indicated lump charcoal is not recommended.
I'm going out this afternoon to get some supplies.
What's the consensus on charcoal type? Brickettes or lump?

Whew. Sorry to be so long in getting back here. Well, I've made a complete about face on the smoker. There is an 18" WSM enroute to my house as we speak. Don't know why, but saw some of the reviews of the Bullet and just decided to jump. There is a guy at work who brought in some mesquite smoked...

I'm a complete newbie 'round these parts, but a quick spelunking around provides no reference to the "green egg" smokers. I know they are obscenely expensive, but someone has to have an opinion about them.
