    BBQ Contest

To everyone who has responded: I am still trying to get the Chamber of Commerce on board. My son and I purchased Welch's Steak @ ribs in Sturgis, so we are super busy. We are increasing the smoking menu and have a growing reputation for our apple smoked herb crusted prime rib. We are phasing...

I have not been around for awhile. We bought a resturant and I have had no time. We have been smoking butts and prime rib on my two masterbuilts. They do a good job, but the capacity is not big enough. I have been looking at a Trager SMK200. Do any of you have any other ideas on a large...

    Lodge Dutch Oven cooking

I just got up from supper and thought I would share the meal with you. Some of you may have tried this, but it is one of our favorites in the fall when we go camping. Today it was snow, rain and freezing rain and in the lower 30's. Not a good day for smoking or dutch oven cooking!!! I had a...

    Deep Frying

I have never fried a turkey in mine. I fry fish etc. I use mine for low country boils (Find on line) and New England boiled dinners. I use the base and other pots including my dutch oven. You can cook anything on it that you would cook in a pot in the stove. Works great. I make up alot of my own...

    Questions for all MES owners

I have only smoked in mine three or four times, but have no trouble with temperature with the draft about 3/8 open. I have been cooking in outside temps, between 25 & 32. I keep the water pan about half-full and have had it up to 270. Good luck! I ran a venison ham and whole newyork strip, and...

    Snack Stix First time (Help)

I have been doing quite few venison snacks. I do them in my masterbuilt using a mix of apple and mesquite. I am using very fine chips and using sparingly. I try to hold around 160 until I get the doneness I desire. Here is my base recipe: 3lbs. ground meat 1/2 tsp. garlic powder 1/2 tsp...

    Masterbuilt electric smoker question

Johnnie - I used my new masterbuilt today and yesterday. I had small chips left over from my luhrjahnsen smoker. I soaked them and they did a beautiful job. You can buy them at Gander Mountain. They probably don't last as long as chips, but they put a beautiful smoke on what I did. I...
