    reverse flow plate details

Pretty much the same answer as MH above I made mine basically the same area as the firebox to smoke chamber opening and when I tested steady state (ie mantaining a constant temp) I saw 1 degree delta T across the entire smoke chamber. I'm not claiming to be an expert (I've only built 1 and just...

    My build

Well wonders never cease the weather was actually good enough for me to get some play time with my new toy. I was able to get it up to temp and hold it at 225 + or - a couple degrees for long enough to feel comfortable with the smoke coming up on Sun. As a side note I must have done something...

Ok, so for the maiden voyage there will be 10 racks of spares going down. Yeah I know but I don't know how to jump in except with both feet,.........and 10 racks. I played with it a bit Sat night, well enough to know I can hit 450 on it with just a couple small pieces of wood. Any advice from...

smoker built from air compressor tank or LP tank?

I second that, really thought mine would be quicker than the brewstand build but at this point I'm really hoping I was wrong cause the brewstand may kill me if I end up being right.

In a traditional smoker with tuning plates and such yes but this is a reverse flow. It has a plate that spans almost the entire length of the smoke chamber that the smoke and heat must pass under before heading back and to the chimney. Small amount of progress tonight due to mother in law...

Ok here's last nights progress, was too tired by the time I quit to take pics or post. Finished welding the reverse flow plate, end cap, and firebox tie in then cut and welded in the grate slides then fab'd the lower grate. I welded the uppers too high so I'll prob do a hanging grate on the upper.

smoker built from air compressor tank or LP tank?

Mine is being (almost done) built with a compressor tank you can see pics in the reverse flow forum. I will say my experience may be different though because of the age of the tank it had 30 years of compressor oil and rust inside which made cleaning it a pain. In hindsight I should have burned...

    My build

Ok little more done tonight, then I ran out of wire.......again. I don't have access to a sheet metal brake so my only choice is to score the reverse flow plate with a cut off wheel till I can get it to bend and then weld it back up Then I went to weld it in and got almost half way there...

    My build

I would like to build another at some point but I'm getting a little burned out on it atm, working full time+ with 4 kids and other obligations leaves me a couple hours in the evening and as much time as I can squeeze in on the weekends to get as much done as possible. As such I have been...

I say "gift" 'cause they live down south and I live in Indianapolis, so I had to go get all the materials cut them all to length and help assemble. But it did turn out aight and the boys have...

    Short in my Masterbuilt

Had my MES for just under a year, it saw heavy use (every weekend from the time I got it till it got too cold here in central Indiana ie Thanksgiving) and I was loving it.
