So I totally forgot to come back and fill you all in. I ended up running my Louisiana Grills 7 series at the smoke setting (temp kept around 180) for about 5 hours to make jerky. There was plenty of TBS and I think the overall flavor of the jerky was better than from the normal pellets. I...
I just had 3 bags of the Royal Oak delivered yesterday from Home Depot. I'm going to clean out my hopper on Saturday and give them a trial. Will report back.
Just mix the baking powder in with your rub. 1 part baking powder, 3 parts rub. Apply to the wings TOGETHER... I'll usually throw some smoke on them at 225 for an hour then crank it up around 400 for 15-20 minutes to crisp the skin right up
Here's what I did. I got one of these chill chests, some HVAC ductwork and a smoke tube. I took some metal pans and put a grate over them and cut vent holes it in. It actually works quite well...
I haven't really had any issues with the app at all. I had the graph not show data once but there's a refresh thing in the graph and as soon as I hit it it all appeared. The silicon piece you're referring to I assume you mean the one on the probe itself and yes it goes in the smoker. I've had...
I have a Louisiana Grills 7 series vertical pellet smoker I picked up from Costco for around $400 delivered to my house. I'll be honest with you, I LOVE it and it has a TON of room. The hopper holds like 40 or 50lbs of pellets, cleanup is a breeze and it's easy to use. Temps run from "SMOKE"...
I have the Inkbird and I would recommend it. The battery life is VERY good, using about 2-3% per hour so more than sufficient for a lot of cooks. I have plugged it in on overnights, though, just for peace of mind. Connects easily to wifi which I much prefer over bluetooth. The phone app is...
Here's "Fat Toes" Charlie Darling (in front) - a little over a year old & pushing 150lbs. Behind him is Lola. She's 6 and only about a buck and a quarter.
I used the CG more the first summer I had the MES, but lately it's about 50/50. I love the CG, but if I'm going to do a long smoke like a huge butt - the MES is just easier - especially since I have a 3 year old and a 4 year old.
Overall I am very satisfied with the quality of q the MES...
I'm with chisoxjim. The CG doesn't work too well in the winter. I'm in Rochester, NY - I've done some mods, including putting a gas burner in the SFB - but it's tough to keep the CG up to temp. I'm using the MES in the winter now.
I'm going to have to try this now. I hope you love your MES labongio! I was skeptical at first when my wife got me mine - she was tired of the "Eau de BBQ (to coin a phrase from a friend of mine)" I had after hours with the chargriller. I grew to love the MES.
That's a nice rig. Do the doors seal? Are you tossing the meat in there fresh out of the fridge or are you bringing it up towards room temp? Don't give up!
