Stainless steel vs steel smokers and pits

I look at new Pits and wonder if there is any advantage of owing a Stainless pit / smoker over a plain steel unit. The Stainless steel pits look nice, But, the price for nice is not so nice. Thoughts.. Cheers, 56Jeff

    Gophers....

If you want personal justice, http://www.rodenator.com/   I think they are like 1400 bucks,,I would NOT use it near pools, pipes, houses, or anything you will have to fix. it's probably goot for a tree pasture. I use the trap the spears moles, that seems to work, but you are going to do this...

    Grinder question

I have also made meat sticks with the vertical stuffer,   I remembering we had to make the meat somewhat wetter to get it to flow thru that meat stick tube.

    Grinder question

About 8 years ago, I drove 45 min to get a horn stuffer,, That was a big mistake, most people use them for door stops.   As I mentioned above, I have a #5 Northern tool stuffer ( I think made by grizzley)  and yes it has nylon gears.. I have to admit I was really upset at first about this...

How do you make your Breakfest patties?

I was hoping to make 2oz patties,, 4oz patties seems really big for breakfast sausage patties.  As a matter of fact.. We did roll a batch out flat and cookie cut them into patties, I like the pre-freezing part, as we did not do that step.  I like the Idea of Rolling the meat our in flat sheets...

How do you make your Breakfest patties?

I love breakfast sausage patties, and I can't figure out a better way to make them more consistent in size and shape. Mainly so I can make them and freeze them. The SLIDER press is really a pain in my bum. It's labor intensive and very slow, and moreover than not the patties stick unless I use...

    Grinder question

I have a grinder and a vertical stuffer, both from Northern tools, the grinder does 176 pounds an hour, great for the home gamers, and not expensive.  They are affordable verses that stuff from LEM..

Need advice, New LEM Stuffer is difficult.

Well I've had a beer and thought about what I have read.. I have done the math and added 1.28 oz water per pound of mix. Based on the 1 quart per 25 lbs of meat. I'm letting the 2nd batch warm up to room temp and I'm going to use my Krupps, For the 76 Bucks I spent, don't think I'm going to...

Need advice, New LEM Stuffer is difficult.

I made about 25 pounds of Deer/pork sausage last night. Today I get the big Idea that I'll spend the bucks and get a " Real Stuffer" instead of using my very slow Krupps meat grinder / stuffer. So I look on the internet and decided to get a LEM #3 horn stuffer. As anxious as a 5 year old at...
