Anyone have any idea how long the batteries last?  Paranoid.

Muskieman, I always have a stockpile of batteries in my Thermometer Box. I clean and replace them here after each cook. when finished with them they gi=o into my Therm. box:

 got a tough Ammo Box for them, no worry of dropping out of those flimsy boxes...

I keep all my Therms. here: can't afford replacements...

I am going to re-paint it with my logo on it)thinking of one now-ant ideas? Then I'll use Foam rubber to make nest for each one. Keeps me busy , I tend to stray off and get in a bind...

A lot depends on the kind of batteries you install in your therm.  Heavy Duty, Alkaline, or Rechargeable.  Which is recommended?  If Alkaline, don't use the others.  Heavy Duty only last a third as long, and rechargeable batteries put out less voltage, which can skew the results (an alkaline battery puts out 1.5vdc, whereas a comparable rechargeable battery puts out 1.25 volts.  With a 4 battery power source in the therm, that can mean 1 volt less; 5 vs 6 volts.).

I use Duracell Ultras, I know I have at least 15 hours on the ones I am currently using. Maybe more. My thermometer is a bit old though, it was purchased 10 or 12 years ago. I always carry 4 backups, just too easy for cheap insurance.

Wow ya made me look it up, mine is an ET-32, but the closest product to what it looks like is a ET-72. Nice upgrade I guess. LOL

The batteries in my ET-73 lasted a little over a year and I was using it almost every weekend. They were the batteries that came with it and I don't remember what kind. I have no idea how many hours but I'm sure it was in the hundreds, I did many many 10 - 20 hour smokes with it.
In fact that is the only thing that has ever failed with that Mav and I've had it almost two years now!!!

Thanks, all.  Very helpful, just trying to minimize screwing up those tiny screws.
