My 21 year old son

(my only child that I know of) came over today to visit the old man. I gave him my beautiful Cleveland Browns color Thermapen and Joy of Cooking, 75th anniversary edition. I hope he puts them to good use. Meanwhile I already miss my Thermapen.......lol. So, I'll be checking often here and elsewhere for heads-up on a sale. The one I had, I purchased new and would like some input as far as quality of their refurbished Thermapens..... I don't like returning stuff. Thanks

Watch for their "open box" sale.   Usually run the Thermopens for $69.

The one I got was brand new in a sealed retail blister pack and many others have said the same.  Had the full warranty.  Nary a problem from mine.  I think they clear out the shelves every so often and they are not really "open box" models.  In fact, I don't recall ever seen anyone post they received one that was not new in the blister pack but I supposes it's possible.  Either way, it's a great deal when they run it.  The hardest part of a Thermopen sale is deciding on what color or pattern your want yours to be.

And you just missed it a few weeks ago.  But they run it once or twice a year I think.

Here is the link to the last sale (which is over), but you can sign up for their emails there and receive direct notification of the next one.

Prior sales that I've seen, they had very limited color options and that's why I payed full price at the time. Don't think I'll be as picky this time as long as it's not Black & Gold

Call your son and tell him about the "Thermapen recall" and you need to return his pen.Say that when they replace the pen it will most likely be a different color. Order a second unit and keep yours and give him the new one.

C'mon man! Good idea...lol

That's why I ordered two Thermapens at the same time. I was sure as soon as the wife used mine it would become "Head cook's property" and I would need the second one for myself.

I am expecting......

Maybe this is what they meant by "free shipping"

I sure hope it's not on a ship and it better not be a knockoff. I place my order on ThermoWorks' site. I'm just a bit surprised it's taking this long. The first one I ordered was here in three days I believe. I'll give it until Friday, then I'm calling.

Did they charge your card yet?  If not, it's a sign it has not shipped yet, if they had the transaction date should be the date they prepped the package.  Thermoworks is a very reputable dealer.

For free shipping they use FedEx SmartPost

"SmartPost is initiated by FedEx and delivered to a USPS facility for final delivery". It takes 7+ days delivery for the region my State falls under. I didn't see this information when I placed my order and never heard of this form of delivery before. Live and learn...
