I am trying out my new smoker this weekend, I got a masterbuilt smoker at bass pro on black Friday .I have never used an electric smoker before only wood fired, hope it all turns out,I'm going to smoke a slab of ribs, chicken, and some appetizers Jeff had on his site this month. my question is how long should I cook the ribs, and do I need to cover with foil.Any help would be great. Also I'm using an ipad2 and was wondering if I can post quick views from it,if I can, how?

First of all, welcome to SMF. You should go over to roll call & introduce yourself so we can all give you a proper SMF welcome. As for the ribs I would use the 3-2-1 method for spares or 2-2-1 for BB's. This is simply 3 hours on the smoker, 2 hours in foil on the smoker with some liquid in the foil, then 1 hour back on the smoker without foil. This is a pretty foolproof way of doing ribs.

First off welcome to SMF. You'll really like this place for there are a bunch of really good folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smoking meat. Then if you have any questions you just post them here or yu can try in chat for a faster answer. If you are really new to all of this I would recommend that you look up and take the e-course. It is free and it will also give you the basics on smoking. So with all that said now go and get something to smoke.
