$6.99 / lb. for Semi-Bonless Beef Rib Roast...

Think the wife will let me skip the turkey?    What to do .. what to do....

I hear ya!!

I was picking up a couple turkeys at Winn Dixie and saw big premium rib roasts for 7.99.

I almost escaped then I saw the sirloin tips on sale too at 3.99..will be smoking it tomorrow.

Probably not---Mine wouldn't allow it.

She would OK the Rib Roast purchase, but would still want the stupid bird for TG.

I'm waiting for Choice Prime Rib to go down to $5.99. I only have one left out of the five I bought about this time last year, and that one winks at me every time I open my meat freezer!!!

Can't wait until prime rib goes on sale here, should be soon!

I'm looking for the same price as Bear!

People have "surf and turf" all the time.  How about "feather and hoof" -- turkey and beef rib roast!  I know which one I'd lean towards....

Good luck Guys, I kinda like raptors comment.  My home boss wants steak this year for TG day.  Gotta go with the boss's request.  But I got my eye on the ads for went the meat sales kick off.  The wife would love some prime rib!!!

The wife and I were in Costco last week and happened upon actual USDA PRIME rib roasts. Boneless. $11.99 a pound, which I guess isn't a bad price for that. I can happily report the chicken we had for dinner was delicious.

Weather you are going to make it for Thanksgiving or not you need to buy it and throw it in the freezer. Last year I picked up two of them when they were on sale around Xmas and this year I am going to buy many many more to have on hand.

going to the mkt tomorrow.

choice boneless rib eye  $4.99 lb

twin pak Butts $1.49 lb

choice sirloin tip $3.29

choice boneless rump $2.99

To many choices / Not enough money.

Does anyone know what a Semi-Boneless Ribeye Roast is? It's on sale  for $5.98lb.

Also what is a Angus Pride Baron of Beef for $3.99lb.

So would either of these compare to a standing rib roast (aka Prime Rib)?

That "Semi-Boneless Ribeye Roast" is what we have right now for $6.99.

That would be what we call a Prime Rib---Ours are usually marked "Choice".

I would buy a lot at $5.98 !!!!

Can't help you with the Baron.

I figured it must be some type of prime rib as it has "Ribeye Roast' in the name but I wasn't sure. I guess I just haven't seen them called that around here. They usually just call them standing rib roasts. I have never had one with bones in it but it definitely worth a try. I might have to go stock up a bit.

We need Pops here!

The semi boneless rib eye roast makes my eyes roll back in my head.  I have seen semi boneless to mean simply that the chine bone has been removed from the portion of the rib subprimal which is marketed as the standing rib roast, rib eye roast, rib steaks, or rib eye steaks .  Also, the marketing and culinary term "prime rib" is heard, but does not mean the roast is from a prime grade carcass.  Often we see the roast sold with the bones having been removed and then tied back together with the roast.  This makes for easier carving.  I prefer mine bone in so I can carve it myself.

Hopefully Pops will be here before my headache gets worse!  LOL

Again, the Baron confuses me.  In some parts of the world it refers to round and sirloin.  As I understand it, in the US it refers more to the round or portions thereof.  Steamship roast just adds more confusion.

Good luck and good smoking.

Thanks for the idea....I may try a Rib Roast that is if I can find one around here...last year they were 6.99lb...Like Raptor said you only live once...

Like Venture said, the last ones I got (about a year ago) the chine bones were removed, and the rib bones were cut almost all the way off. Then it was tied back together (one string).

I coat mine with Worcestershire (thick), CBP, garlic powder, and onion powder, and I shove some of that in between where that cut was made too, for some added flavor.
