I have been wanting to make some Pulled Pork since I got addicted to smoking. I decided to make some for the Pittsburgh Steelers game on Sunday, Thanks to the help from some great members on here I have some totally incredible Pulled Pork on the counter right now. TANK, thanks for the sauce recipe. The family loves it.
I started out with 10 pound butt and cut it in half to help with cooking time. I used a rub of brown sugar, garlic powder, salt, pepper, paprika, BBQ spice, minced onion, and chili powder. Into the smoker at 230 degrees at 3 pm with some hickory.
After hitting 100 degrees internal I started spraying a mixture of apple juice and crown royal every half hour.
Once I hit 165 internal I wrapped in foil and poured some of my juice/ whiskey combo in with the meat.
9 hours later I hit 195 with smoker temps at 230-240 all day.
I wrapped the meat in towels and let rest for one hour in the microwave. After cooling slightly I pulled it. It just fell apart in my fingers. It was so juicy and flavorful that I could have skipped the finishing sauce, but since I already made it earlier I used it. This is some of the best pulled pork I have ever had. My son is a major fan of pulled pork but could not stay awake long enough to try the finished product. This is one that I would not change even one thing the next time I make it. Now the trick is to to see if any even makes it until game time Sunday when everybody shows up.
Sorry about the pics. I have been using the phones camera since I have been having battery problems with the digital camera.
