My wife wanted carne asada tacos and ceviche so I said sure I haven't had that in a while but I got a recipe from JustPassingThru for Poisson Cru

http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/forum/thread/107552/poisson-cru-tahitian-raw-fish-in-coconut-milk

and decided to make that instead of ceviche.

Along with the carne asada I had to make some homemade guacamole (I hated guacamole until I made it myself and now I love it, I guess I always just had bad pre-made stuff)

Marinated a flank steak I cut in half (I like it better with skirt steak but I couldn't find any) in lime juice, olive oil, cilantro, garlic,  jalapenos (couldn't  find serranos and mine are not ready to pick yet), oregano, and cumin. I flipped the meat several times while it was in the fridge.

Made some guacamole with avocado, s & p, jalapenos (again no serranos), cayenne, red onion, tomato, cumin, cilantro, and lime juice.

Grilled the steak on my electric grill (that I won in a raffle) along with a bell pepper

On a grilled flour tortilla with sliced steak and guacamole (I normally do more but felt like keeping it simple, plus I was more excited to try the poisson cru)

Everything was great and I get to eat it all again for dinner tonight.

Thanks for looking!

Guacamole in the DC area. How much were the avos? I bet they were expensive for sure. Looking good

Thanks! They were top dollar ($4.50 for 2) from the store I went to (Balduccis) but next door to me I have a much better store that has mostly local produce and USA products. There I get them much cheaper and they are from Cali. I am sure you get them super cheap. I am more then willing to pay for good products and I can't have good guacamole without avocados so I splurge sometimes.

EEEeeewwwww---it's GREEN !!!

Just kidding---Looks real pretty!

Never had it, but I'm betting it's Great !!!!

I missed this one too Twig, sorry 'bout that, looks good, I wish I was having that tonight!

Your right on with the limes, I prefer them over lemons for marinading, and the Guac looks killer!

So now I understand Bear's thread about the avocado muffins, ...I'm slow folks.

I like to make this every cinco de mayo. Toss it on the grill with some roma tomatoes, serranos, and Jalapenos. I turn the veggies into a salsa with garlic, onion, cilantro and lime juice. Add some fresh guac and diced cilantro and onions to top the tacos. Pop open some tecate and it dinner time.

cant beat authenic mexican tacos........just needed to trade the flour tortillas for CORN!!!!!! yay

Thanks! Sometimes I use corn but I prefer flour.
