Last sunday a friends step dad passed away suddenly. He was 53. I of course offered to help with the memorial reception. I didn't realize that my offer meant I was catering the whole thing. In the end we had 70 lbs of PP 35lbs of Chicken Thighs 47lbs of beans Fruit salad. There was also goodies that were just store bought. My wife took on the task of the fruit salad. I started the pork friday night.

Here it is loaded in the GOSM. I could of got 3 more in there if needed. Thats 3 per rack right there. It was tight but had just enough space between them to make it work.
Here's one of them at foiling.
Here are some more pictures for the event. They had to have it at a park because the other 2 venues in town were taken. Sorry for the poor quality pictures but they work. We fed about 200. I had enough cooked to server 300. All in all a good day and it was a big stress relief for the family which is why I did it.
Thanks for looking

Well God love ya! You will be rewarded for your kindness & generosity :) I am sure the family appreciated more than you'll ever know! All that pulled Pork, I'm in heaven :)~

nice job brian and good on you for helping out a family in need!

My friend said a few family members said that they have had PP at some great joints that have won awards but what I cooked was way better so that was nice to hear. It was alot of work but it was great to see the relief on their faces. Also glad that they didn't have to be raped by some catering yahoo that would of over charged them since it was last minute.

Excellent pics and a class act to offer your skills. One question. Obviously there were left overs. Did the guests take care of them for you? Or did/could you offer them to a local shelter or some such relief agency? Just askin'.

I know that was a lot of work Brian, but I'm also sure it was worth it in the end.  It's great to have friends like you and you will be rewarded.

Thank you so much.  I can't add much to what has already been said.  You make us proud to be here and to know you!

Good luck and good smoking.

brian that looks like one heck of a load , thats one thing i miss about living in a big city you sure dont see things like that, you really gave that gosm a workout,  how long did it take?

I hope you had some more help besides the boss lady,   that looks like a lot of work

question,   how did you contain all the drippings off the pork  im surprized it didnt flood your pan and drip into the burner

You know, the more I read and the more I learn of the many individuals in here, I am very proud that I have joined and try to contribute something to the good of this wonderful site.  Many Kuddos Brian, such selflessness is a strong indicator of you and your character.  God bless you and the family.

Yes and No. There aren't any shelters near by. We live up in hte mountains and the closet shelter is over a hour away. We offered people to take the leftovers with them. We also gave some to a few families that we know are struggling. I also took a little home too.

Rick it took 13 hours to cook them. The GOSM did great. I had to put them in there like a puzzle to make sure I had a little room between them all to allow the heat to get thru. I also rotated them at foiling.

As for help it was mainly just the mrs and me. The mrs had 2 of her aunts come the morning of the even to help with the prep of all the little items and pulling the 9 butt's. During the service we had 1 other friend that helped out. They cut all the treats up for folks to gobble down.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. Im a firm believer of what goes around comes around. I know that one day I will need help and the folks that i help out will be there for us. Atleast it makes me better thinking that way.
