Prime Rib (Tied with best one I ever ate)

Mrs Bear & I had our own little Super Bowl Party.

This one tied the Best Prime Rib I ever ate.

I won't bore you with the details this time, because I did everything just about exactly like the one in my signature below.

The only changes I made were to use the rack & pan seen below, and I used Hickory Dust in my AMNS, instead of Cherry.

If you want to see a "Step by Step" on the one this tied, go to the bottom of this post & click on "Prime Rib", in my signature.

Rack & pan makes it easy to catch juices, and if anything sticks real bad, you can throw them away.

The pans are only about 40 cents each, and the 8" X 10" rack with feet are only about a buck a piece.

I'm so glad I learned how to make these just right.

They beat every one I ever ate, and that's a couple hundred Prime Ribs over better than 40 years of searching for the perfect Prime Rib!

Bear, for this time it looks like you smoked the roast in the pan.  Is that correct?  I went to the link for your full method and it didn't say anything about it there.
 
 
Bear you da man. I'm still waiting for rib roast to go on sale around here. I just gotta do one of those. Yours looks fantastic. Good thing I got my drool rag tied on.

Yes, I'm trying to make it easier to clean up after smoking.

I didn't mention that, because the pictures show it, but I will edit this one & fix that.

I think using the pan makes it have less bark, but the taste is still just as good.

This was only the second one I ever smoked, the first being a few months ago.

I just had the third meal from this 5 pounder, and I think there are at least another 3 meals left---maybe 4.

Since we don't eat a lot at one time any more, that means a Prime Rib Dinner costs us less than $5 per meal.

That's cheaper than McDonald's!

Great job Bear. I think I am going to be doing another one as well very soon. Probably for Valentines day. Where the heck do you get those racks for $1? Or are you just pulling my leg on the price?
