I heard about SMF from the "kitchen" section of a fishing forum I belong to, and I love it, so I decided to join up.

I bought my wife one of those small vertical charcoal smokers about 10 years ago as a present, and she still says it is one of her favorite presents yet (because I was doing the cooking, and she got to eat BBQ)! I also have a Weber kettle grill that I use. I decided to get an electric smoker, so in part based on research on this site, I am going to get a 40" MES from Sam's this week.

I have done jerky, brisket, shoulder, ribs and chicken mostly to this point, but I hope to expand my offering with the help of this website.

I live in Luckey, Ohio which is south of Toledo.

Welcome To Your New Addiction

Welcome to the smokiness. You will fall in love w/ the MES.
Only fault w/ it is it will make you lazy. Set it and forget it. Add chips once an hour and lay back and enjoy the day.

Thank you for all the welcomes. I guess I will jump right in with the Qview and show a beer can chicken I cooked today. Turned out ok, it got a little dry.
I am looking forward to the MES, I hope that it will standardize my cook times a little better. And it is ok that it makes me lazy, because I don't Q enough because I am too busy! So let's just hope it allows me to Q more!

Owning a MES will give you more smoking time and allow for time on the "Honey-do list". That is a bad part but you wil smoke moe,; guaranteed.

Welcome to the SMF. Glad to have you here. Lots of good folks, great recipes and knowledge. Looking forward to your first qview.
