I called weber to see what a replacement lid would cost and they said 59.00 with shipping... WTH!

I don't know what to do.. I was planning on building my UDS this weekend to use next weekend when family comes to visit. Do you think I can get a brisket, butt on one 22.5 inch rack and still have room for a rib or hopefully 2?

I don't think all that will fit on one rack.  For a lid I'd check local stores for a kettle grill that is 22.5"  and buy the whole thing so you have spare parts.  Around Kansas City we have a store called Big Lots that had one for 30 bucks or so.  You might have some sort of outlet store that carries a no namer that will work for you.

WOW, $59 plus shipping is crazy!  I've also seen where folks have used the Uniflame from Wally World.  I noticed last night they had a lot of their grills marked down for season close out.  Of course they had 10 or more the other day but yesterday I couldn't find one.  The original cost on them was $40.  Imagine they've knocked 8 or 10 bucks off them if you can find one at a local store.

I've been searching for a used one here for several weeks with no luck.  I did find one for an entire used weber for $35 but it'd have been a 3 hour round trip to get it.  lol  Figured I could buy one by the time you added gas cost.

Yeah I'm not sure about a crazy drive either. I may just break down and order from Weber if I don't come across one in the next couple weeks cause I'm putting all this time and money into it and buying a cheaper lid doesn't mesh well with my OCD :))

LOL I hear ya!  I guess that's why I don't have one yet either.  I've been accused of being overly OCD with most things...lol

I SCORED!! I went to my wife's grandmothers house to burn out my drum and it turned out she has a 22 inch weber

.. I asked how much for it joking around and she said just get her another grill to replace that one.. Here's where I scored.. yesterday my grandparents heard I wanted a weber lid and gave me their 18 inch weber not knowing I need a 22 inch lid.... I was bummed that it was only an 18 incher till today.. I traded the free 18 incher for the 22.. HELL YEAH!!

I just saw one like this the other day and I think what he did was basically take the bottom of the grill and set it into the top of the drum. Then about 2 or 3 inchs below the spot where the lid sits he cut the bottom off the grill. He may have even had a section of stove gasket in there as well. I would think that some high temp sealant could very easily glue the lower grill section to the drum with no problems. All its gonna do is hold up the lid.

On mine I used the drum flat lid and welded it to the weber lid, then cut out the midle of the drum lid using the edges as a flange. That was alot of work too.
