It was not bad at all. i was worried because I know the red one's are a pain. I need to gather some wood from the dead trees in the backyard and do another burning tonight.
The tan did come off with the burning. I have not done any grinding as of yet. I did a second burn yesterday and to get some more of the residual stuff off. I will try to take some pictures tonight and post. This if my first one, and I am not sure what the inside is supposed to look like.
I am not real worried because I know that it is a food grade barrel. Being the first time doing this, I just want it to be safe when done. I think I am going to give it a few more burns, scrap with a wire brush, and wash it with a power washer.Funk, if you are real worried,try talking to a Sandblaster.I traded a rack of ribs for his work.

Great, I might have to give this a try with a tanned lined barrel I have..but then I think it's almost worth it for me to get it sandblasted since I've found someone who will do the inside and out for $20. As for the apperance of the inside, as long as the tan liner is gone, that's all that matters, should just have a dull metal look...well, maybe a little smutted look now from the burning you've done..lol
