Going by prices I'm seeing in stores and online thats probably not a bad price especially since its local so you don't have to add shipping onto the prices

hard to say, depends on what it looks like......another place is barry bros off of washington and 52nd st. in phx.

That might be great pricing, depending on the weight of the burlap sacks. Locally, I pay about $1.00 a pound for chunks.Good luck my friend.

I was just checking out thier website. Looks like you have to buy a lot from them. I'll run up there one day at lunch and see what they got.

I got a nice section of walnut trunk and a good sized chunk of walnut branch, a nice pistacio stump section with a few extra pieces, about ten nice pecan logs and two gnarly hunks of grape wood for 40 bucks. Should last me quite a while considering I have 3/4 chord of mesquite left...

not a bad haul.....and you don't have to buy a ton of wood. i think the last time i was there i only picked up 3-4 milk crates of pecan for like $20. they also have different woods different time of the year so call to see what is on the lot so you don't waste yer time or gas.

Just called this guy. He's on Mesa Dr and Broadway... a little more than a mile from me. I'll probably stop by there and get some wood before my next smoke.

Did you get that haul for $40 from the 52 and Wash or the craigslist ad in Mesa?
Yeah, from the guy in Mesa. The pic in the ad didn't match the woodpile but I'm sure he's a re-poster so it's to be expected. He sais he has a place where he stores the wood so he doesn't have a huge inventory on hand.

This is just a bit more than a wheelbarrow full. Can't wait to try the pistacio.

Nice ! Thanks !  Thats not far from me either. I'm at Lindsay and Warner. Thanks for the tip. I found a guy who sells Pecan in Chandler on Ocotillo and about Mesa ish $10  a bundle and its a good bundle. He has it all the time and can get cords if need be. I dont know the cord price. Let me know if any of you AZ people need info on this place. Be glad to help

I really need to get some smaller-sized pecan at a decent price. I want to start stick-burning in my horizontal but I don't want to do it with mesquite. I can always use the mesquite in my fireplace during our three weeks of winter.

On a side note, The National Weather service said it would be 114 today... "but it's a dry heat.."

Trucks and BBQ - can't get much better than that!

Maybe I should help my family trim their pecan trees and use that smoke. Everything I've done so far my wife complains about being too smokey - perhaps I'm not doing it right or should try a more mild wood. Maybe I'll try lump coal for the heat and use my wood a little less on this next smoke.
