She Who Must Be Obeyed advised me I was making chicken wings. I only had a couple of hours to dinner and I had other things to do so I wanted to try something easy.

I mixed 25 ml (2 tablespoons) honey, 25 ml (2 tablespoons) commercial teriyaki sauce and 1 ml (1/8 teaspoon) Sriracha. I would have liked to have added more Sriracha but if I made wings hotter than SWMBO likes I would hear about it.

I set this glaze aside.

I tossed 12 wing segments in 15 ml (1 tablespoon) of vegetable oil. Then I sprinkled 10 ml (2 teaspoons) of a salty rub over them (I used Louisiana Grills Hickory Bacon Rub). I tossed them to coat with the rub.

I put the wings in my pellet smoker preheated to 325 F.

I smoked them for 1 hour. Here they are after 30 minutes.

Here they are after one hour.

I put the wings in a large bowl. I heated the glaze in the microwave and poured it over the wings.

I tossed them to coat them with the glaze.

Here is the finished product.

We served them with rice and broccoli salad.

The Verdict

There was a great sweet, salty, spicy taste with a crisp skin and a sticky glaze. The true measure of success? SWMBO liked them!

Them looks great. Simple recipe even I can follow. Thanks.

Points for you.

Those look great Disco! I know that pellet grill can get pretty high so I was just curious what temp you smoked at to get crispy skin? Darn, a pellet grill would really round out my arsenal

Some good looking Wings!...BUT...Bottled Teriyaki Sauce!?!?
jaw-dropping.gif

Soy Sauce, Mirin, Rice Vinegar (unseasoned) and Bottled Teriyaki are all together in most grocery aisles. Easy to make, taste better and no preservatives. After a couple of times making this, I just Eyeball it and make what I need.

It's Ok...I Still respect you...JJ

Thanks, Adam but you don't fool me. I've seen your posts and you don't need easy.

I cooked them at 325 F for an hour. This has become my go to for wings with the pellet smoker or the mini. However, I always make sure to toss them in vegetable oil first and that really helps  crisp the skin.

Great lookin meal Disco, I'd have been all over that plate !

Har! Come on over, Justin!

Yes. I started with a Bradley electric smoker. When I wanted to do wings I would toss them in oil. I would crank it up as high as it would go (about 240 F) for an 1 1/2 hours. This would give some texture to the skin but sometimes they would still be a little soft. Then I would toss them on the gas grill on medium high or under the broiler to crisp the skin.

It is easier on the pellet smoker but nobody ever turned down the wings I made in the Bradley and they always disappeared.

Har, I have a recipe for home made teriyaki sauce and usually use it but She Who Must Be Obeyed buys the commercial stuff for stir fries she makes. This day I was told to cook but I was also doing her taxes so I went lazy. Don't hate me!

Actually, the pellet smoker doesn't do the food any better, it is just so much easier and I am a lazy old fat guy! Thanks for the points, Richie!
