I have a MES 40 bluetooth and I knew from the start that I would probably get an A-Maze-N smoker but I am having a tough time figuring out which one I need.

I went to A-Maze-N website and read all the info there, I searched here(there is so much info here that my head hurts just trying find any info on what I am looking for) but I still am confused on which one to get.

Besides not having to keep loading wood chips every hr, I like the idea of being able to smoke at low temps. So to me the AMNS sounds like the thing for me, but using pellets would be nice also.

SO does that mean I get a AMNPS

I only read one place, on A-Maze-N website, that you can use dust in the AMNPS along with pellets. IS this true?

This statement was not in the instructions page it was at the top of the page where you would select the one you want to buy.

If that is the case why make 2 different versions.

Thanks for any help.

Yes they do both work good, but if you only want to get one, get the AMNPS.

The AMNS is only good for Dust, and was originally designed for Cold & Warm smoking, and it's not good in Smoker Temps above 220°. It has a very good chance of jumping across rows anywhere between 210° and 230°.

The AMNPS is good for dust or pellets, and to a higher temp due to the construction of the interior double walls.

Thanks for all the info, I think I will go for the AMNPS.

Wasn't sure if the AMNPS had any draw backs when using dust. Figured that it was designed for pellets and when you use dust in it there would be less than optimal performance with it.

I did read about AMNS jumping rows at higher temps and I was hoping for something that I could use for both cool and hot smoking. Hate to spend more than I need to.

I have only the AMNS which I bought before the AMNPS became available.

I use it successfully for hot and cold smokes.

If I were buying today, I would go with the AMNPS.

Good luck and good smoking.

I have both. And I go to the tube now .. Always maintains a good smoke easy to use .. The maze works great with pellets also but tube is more convenient takes up less space

How does one get TBS with the AMNTS ?  I get great volumes of smoke for 2 1/2 hours withe 6" tube; but it is not Thin Blue smoke by any means.

Fill the 6" AMNTS up to the 3" level, hold sideways and shake to level it across the 6" tube. That's closer to how filled the rows of a AMNPS are.

Save yourself some grief if you get the wrong one.  Call Todd at Amazen and describe your setup.  He will most definitely help you decide.

See Post #6 above:
I helped Todd with the testing of the AMNS & AMNPS, when that Genius was developing his Amazing products, so I can tell you I'm sure he would recommend the AMNPS, if you are using an MES 40, and you are not at a high altitude. It's the best way to be able to get Perfect Smoke with both Dust & Pellets, while only having to buy one unit.

Thanks for the replies , I ordered and AMNPS; so I guess the tube will be used with the grills from now on.

It is an auxillary smoke generator. For when you want more smoke flavor, or you have low air flow, or high altitude smoking, etc....

Some of these use chips, some pellets, and some dust. The AMP's is a common abbr. for and AMAZIN product. The AMPs is a tray type, pellet smoker sold by AMAZIN products which happens to be a site sponsor. The sponsor are some really nice folks, and their products work well.  If you click on the sponsors icon on the above task bar you'll find a link where you can see one.

They make a pellet tray, a tube, and there new product is an adjustable oval pellet smoker (which I love).
