MES40 with BLUETOOTH-what is the advantage

Kind of defeats the purpose of a Bluetooth unit...The smart phone IS your controller. There is the MES Gen 1 model # 20070311 that is somewhat similar, tried and true by many here and has a Handheld basic remote that turns on/off, sets time and temp and monitors smoker and meat temp. In either case, Masterbuilt supports the units with customer service and user friendly replacement parts. Bearcarver has both and can give more detail. He should be along shortly or send a PM...JJ

It can still be controlled without bluetooth. You are paying a premium for it so you will save some money getting a gen 1 instead but Masterbuilt made some changes to the newest model and from all the reports on here it appears to be the best performing one yet.
That's about the size of it.
You can control it from the Sun-shielded Control Panel on the front of the smoker.
To show you how much I like it, I Moved my Gen #1 (I loved for over 5 years) into my garage, and turned my New # 2.5 into my Smoker of Choice!!
