I am in for info.

I want a smokehouse. I was thinking wood but maybe I will get my mind changed.

Just a tip once you motor the joints wait 2 or 3 days to dry do a row or two or three then let it dry. You could wash only one time after those few days because when you light it up . It will all clear away the stains from the motor on the brick.

Is this the brick smoker page. p.s i like your alot how the inside of your chamber is with all the racks you fit like 5 racks thats amazing .
Thanks Port.   Just be sure you can fit your racks through your doors.  I almost messed up there.   I have to turn them sideways and lay them down inside.

Yep, this is the brick smoking page.   We're on a trial run to see how much interest is out there.    If you'd like, start a new thread and show us step by step as you go.  We can all learn from each other.

Thanks for posting!

There is a lot of work with this type of smoker but it will last a lifetime.  I'll do my best to answer any questions you might have.

Oh ye im thinking about how bigger i want the next door opening on top going to be for the racks so i could take them out and clean them every once a while lol. So i dont think ill be going 12x12 maybe 16x16 so there room to take the racks out. Happy thanksgiving hope to see some more smokers out there.

Where i want to build it, it wont be protected from the winter wind. Afraid the wood house will be severly affected.

The inside I didn't worry to much about.  The outside of mine was a mess when I finished.   I washed it down with muratic acid when it was done to clean it up.   I scrubbed my butt off getting it cleaned up.  LOL

Congrats on the new Smoker category! I like having a place to put posts for different smokers! That's why I asked for the Mini-WSM forum! I'll be watching this one for sure. Love looking at all the brick work, that's the Architect in me.

Well depends what brick you using muratic acid . The firebricks dont need acid maybe the out side 2 course brick to give it that finish . You dont wanna to keep tempering fire brick motor

I'm not real sure how a smokehouse is built.  A lot of folks have them and love them.   I started with a  Chargriller and if it rained the temp went straight down.   The nice thing about masonry is weather doesn't effect it.  The only problem I have is when its something like 20F or lower, it takes about hour or a little longer to get it up to temp.  Once there, your good to go like a normal day, other then freezing your butt off to tend it.  :-)

Thanks Case.

I hope it will take off.   Thanks for your support!

I didn't wash down the firebrick.  Didn't want the chemicals in the smoker.   I just cleaned the outside.

I don't have anywhere to put a brick and morter smoker! But I sure like watching the build process and the final results!! If I had room I would have one. Congrats on your new page all of you BS smokers!! LOL I wish you well!!

Thanks for the kind words guys.   There just isn't any info on the web about this lost art.   I compiled my build of pictures and ideas.    I was totally honest with the review of my own build and how to make it better.  I can't rebuild it, but I can give first hand advise as to what I would change.    I hope we get the chance to be part of this great forum.

Im looking forward to this section. Wes thanks for taking the lead to get this done.
