I am about to be sent my third body from MES all due to electrical shorts/tripping fuses.  The best part is when i receive the body from masterbuilt each time something different is screwed up.  For example i was unable to attach one of the legs due to all the holes being too small for the screws... NEVER AGAIN, what is a good gas smoker that will not break the bank??

Can't you find a Gen #1 MES ??

I wouldn't pay for a Gen #2 either!!

How about a better Electrical smoker?  Don't base electrics on that junky MES stuff.  Look into Smokin-It (owner here), Cookshack and or Smokin-Tex.  All VERY good smokers for the price and won't let you down.  My brother has had his Smokin-Tex for 5 years I think and he uses the hell out of it with great results.

I have had my Smokin-It #2 for about 6 months and couldn't be happier.  If I can save just one person from the MES mistake I made long ago then I feel I have done a good deed :o)

I was at the new Gander Mountain store in town this weekend and saw they had a Gen 1 MES for sale.

Here it is online:

If the one in the picture is really the one they have for $337, that's a pretty good price. That one is the Gen #1, and it looks like it's All SS.

That's the one I got 4 years ago, and I paid $399 at Cabelas. However 3 weeks later they went on sale, so Cabelas gave me a $50 rebate, so I ended up paying $349.

I wish I knew about this site before I bought an MES 30" Gen 2. What a POS. Luckily Lowes allowed me to return it and now I am in the market for a new smoker.
That's Great-----I was hoping they would !!!  The Gen #1 is Great !!
