hello all!  I was wondering how long home made BBQ sauce will last in a sealed container in the fridge?  I made a batch over the 4th of july weekend, and now I am cooking for our fantasy football draft and wanted to serve the sauce again.  Is it still good? It has been stored in the fridge since made, in a large rubbermaid container with a lid. I don't want to get anyone sick, but it was so awesome I hated not to serve it.

As Always . . . THANK YOU!

Just my 2 cents , but I would say you are very safe to use that. I make BBQ sauce a lot and I keep it for months at a time. As long as you handled it reasonably safely when you made it and stored it , I wouldn't worry. Have a great party , brother! :grilling_smilie:

Fantastic man!  Thank you for the quick reply.  I did handle it safely when it was made, and it has been stored as best as possible.  I just didn't want people running out of the building screaming in agony as a result . . . though that would be a great way to stack up my fantasy football team if no one else is well enough to draft! :)

It pretty much depends on the ingredients, if the sauce was cooked, how frequently and for how long it was out of the Refer and how often you and yours stand in front of the open Fridge staring into it...If it contains Vinegar, Salt and Ketchup (has Preservatives), was not taken out frequently or sat out more than 2 hours and was not contaminated by Fingers taking a Taste including double dipping. It should be fine for the two months it has been around...JJ

Thanks JJ.  The version I made was Billbo's BBQ Sauce.  It cooked for around 4 hours, it does have ketchup and vinegar in it.  I have had it mostly in the back of my fridge.  I had a smaller dispenser container that I used to set out for dinners and such.  So the bulk of the sauce lived in the fridge the entire time.  No finger taste testing either, so no grubby hands have been in it.
