hello from Minnesota. I am currently using a smoky mountain vertical smoker have been smoking for about five years think I am getting there looking forward to chatting with other bbq nuts.

does anybody no if its possible to get a good brisket without using the crutch have only made two and they were not that great............any help would be great

You should sign up for Jeff's Free 5 day E-Course, and it's great! This is chock full of great information....no matter what your experience level might be!

My third brisket attempt tomorrow twelve pound brisket some rub beef broth injected one hour per pound @ 225 no crutch cant fail...... ha will post my results
Thinking about my next smoker a masterbuilt xl. Does anyone own one? Any general info on performance would be awesome.

yes sir i do!! best thing since sliced bread..tons of room, havent done any real mods to mine and still churn out awesome Q..but maybe thats just cuz i know Q! lol.

yep it sure does. i havent done any of the gasket mods or seals cuz i dont think theres enough heat or smoke escaping from the doors or hinges to gimme a hard time. it definitely gets the job done and then some....for the price its definitely worth it 10 fold IMO.
currently have gosm large model. it looks a lot like the mbxl but a tad smaller. love my old vertical propane.
